Front Page Unit 3 Wiki

This unit is mostly about Density, mass, volume, and buyoncy. We had to measure different objects and see how much it weigths. then we had to put them in water and see if it floats or if it sinks. And in Density, mass, and volume we had to find out what was the mass, density, and volume in each object. we figured this out by dividing mass and volume that gives us the density of an object. We also did this project called sink and float which is mainly about putting different objects such as a ball, a block, and clay in the water, we did this because we had to see if the objects sank or float. you figured out if an object is gonna sink or float by depending on the weight of an object.
Standards Covered:
- All objects experience a buoyant force when immersed in a fluid. As a basis for understanding this concept:
- Students know density is mass per unit volume.
- Students know how to calculate the density of substances (regular and irregular solids and liquids) from measurements of mass and volume.
- Students know the buoyant force on an object in a fluid is an upward force equal to the weight of the fluid the object has displaced.
- Students know how to predict whether an object will float or sink.
